Dreams

Today's a powerful day of remembering and memorializing. My twitter friend, Matthew Paul Turner, wrote this post from Uganda, where he is with World Vision this week. Please read it. It is so very profound and beautifully written in a splendidly humble way.

Mace and I have been talking about our dreams for our future and our dreams for our family lately. We feel certain about very little, but this we do know: We want to give. Our time, our money, resources...we are in awe of the Love and grace of our God and want to give back. We are both weary of the path Mace's career has taken and the lack of time we have to be a family and to make a difference in the lives of others. We are ready and waiting for God to move and provide, career-wise. We are waiting to see what ways God wants our family to give. Pray for us, because our patience is wearing thin. But we are working to answer His call to love...everyone, especially "the least of these," all the time. Because that's what we can do today, right now.

I am finally finishing Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God. The book is fabulous. I have been challenged, encouraged, frustrated, and inspired. There have been times when I couldn't put it down, and some days I've refused to pick it up. So terrifying, so good, so difficult, so painful, so refreshing, SO worth it. This quote from the book really sums up some of our feelings right now -

"The point is that there is another path, an alternative to
the individualism, selfishness, and materialism of the
American Dream (even the so-called Christian version).
...God works in a vast number of ways...

He has more in store for you than you can really imagine right now."

We rest in knowing that God knows our dreams and has things in store for us that we could never dream of. Terrifying, good, difficult, painful, refreshing, WORTH it!
