Thanksgiving Day

We had so much fun on Thanksgiving Day getting to eat with and visit with Ace's Great Grandmother, Great Granddad, and (Great) Uncle Don(my mother in-law's fam).  We met Mimi and Evan there and enjoyed some yummy cooking by Mimi and Great Grandmother.  Ace was quite the entertainer(as always), and Axl got passed around and ate a lot.  As always, I had too much fun visiting and watching Ace enjoy his extended family(and they him,  for sure) to take any pictures until we were heading out.  And by that time, Ace had used up all of his happy boy faces and was just a tad less than cooperative. We also got to go over to see some of Mace's dad's family with Evan, and spent some good time chatting, catching up and watching football and eating(it was Thanksgiving, after all).  LOVED going and had a blast, but there, too, i didn't take a single picture.  Shoot.

silly mommy thought the bread would appease him...

On our way to see Mace's dad's side of the family after our visit with the great-grandparents, we visited Seth, Sr.'s grave.  It was the first time we had been back since we've had the boys.  It was bittersweet, for sure.  On the way over, I tried to prep Ace about where we were going and why, and he asked a few questions so we thought he understood a bit, but when I finished, all I remember saying was, "...okay, bud?", and he said, "Oh!  I know!" (we're thinking there's going to be some super-genius epiphany here)  "what, buddy?"  "SKITTLES!"  Skittles?  Well, if by that you mean mommy chasing you through the cemetery, trying to avoid the headstones and grave markers, and apprehending you just before you ran up the steps of a mausoleum, and bargaining with you using stones from a flower arrangement?  Then, yes, baby.  Skittles.
a sweet and sad emotional time.  so glad we went.
